Family law services in Ottawa.

Our practice is limited to family law. These are the five kinds of work we do. Many files involve more than one, and one retainer covers them all.

Where to start

Not sure which one fits? Most people are not.

A separation usually touches children, money and the home at the same time. Start with the question that matters most to you, and we will map out the rest at the consultation.

You have just separated

Start with parenting and support. These affect your family now. Property and divorce can follow.

You already agree on most things

A separation agreement puts it in writing. Each of you needs Independent legal adviceAdvice from your own lawyer about an agreement before you sign it. The lawyer then signs a certificate that you understood it. before you sign.

You received court papers

Call us the same week. Most court forms have a deadline for your answer, often 30 days from the day you were served.

You cannot afford a lawyer

Legal Aid Ontario may cover your case. We accept Legal Aid certificates for family law matters.

How we work

One retainer, one lawyer, one clerk.

Your retainer names the lawyer and the clerk who will work on your file. The clerk gathers your papers and keeps the deadlines. The lawyer gives the advice, negotiates and goes to court with you.

You get a copy of every letter and court form, with a short note on what it means. Meetings can happen at our office or by video, and evening video meetings are available by appointment.
