How it works

A small grocery store where everything is free.

Any household living in Vanier or Overbrook can pick up a grocery hamper once a week. You choose your own items from our shelves, the same way you would in a small grocery store, so you take home food your family will eat. On your first visit, bring one piece of ID with your address. We register you in about five minutes and you can shop the same day.

Halal, vegetarian and baby food shelves

On the shelves

Food your family will eat.

Fresh fruit and vegetables every week. Milk, eggs and bread when we have them. Rice, oil, canned fish, pasta and other staples.

We keep separate shelves for halal food, vegetarian food and baby food, so you can find them quickly. If you need something you cannot see, ask a volunteer. We may have more in the back room.

Delivery

Cannot get here? We can bring it.

Seniors and people with limited mobility can have their groceries delivered by a volunteer driver.

Call (613) 555-0151 and tell us what you need. We will register you by phone and set a delivery day that works for you. Every driver has a police check.

Questions

Good to know.

Anything else? Call (613) 555-0151 or send us a message.

What if my ID does not show my address?

Bring it anyway, with a letter or bill that has your name and address. If you have neither, come in and talk to us. We will sort it out with you.

Can someone shop for me?

Yes. Tell us their name when you register, and they can shop for your household. Seniors and people with limited mobility can also ask for delivery.

Do I need to book a time?

No. Come in any time during pantry hours. Tuesday mornings are the busiest, so Thursday or Saturday is often quicker.
