Meet the room

Meet the room before you come

Everything your child will see, in the words we use in the chair. Read it together the night before.

  1. The big chair

It tips back slowly so you can lie down. Ask us to stop it any time.

  2. Sunglasses

The light is bright. These keep it out of your eyes, and you can keep them on.

  3. Headphones

Bring your own music or a show. You can borrow ours too.

  4. The tiny mirror

A little mirror on a stick. It helps us see the backs of your teeth.

  5. The slurpy straw

It drinks up water all by itself and makes a funny noise.

  6. Your toothbrush

At the end we show you which teeth need a little more brushing.

  7. The paper cup

For a rinse at the end. Take as many sips as you like.

Canadian Dental Care Plan

Canadian Dental Care Plan patients welcome

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is run by the Government of Canada. We bill Sun Life directly for CDCP services, so you do not pay the full cost up front. Before treatment, we tell you what the plan covers, your co-payment if you have one and any cost the plan does not cover.

  • Direct billing to Sun Life
  • Written estimate before treatment
  • Co-payments explained when you book
  • Healthy Smiles Ontario accepted for children

Check in three questions

Nothing is sent. Only the Government of Canada can confirm if you qualify.

Do you have dental insurance through work, a pension or a health spending account?
Did you file a tax return for last year? Include your spouse or partner if you have one.
What is your adjusted family net income?

Answer the three questions to see what may apply to you.

The plan is for people without dental insurance

The CDCP does not cover people who have access to a dental plan, including a health spending account. We bill most private plans directly, so bring your plan details to your visit.

File your tax return first

The plan uses your tax return to check your family income. Once your return is filed, you can apply on canada.ca.

Over the income limit

The plan is for families with an adjusted net income under $90,000. We still give you a written estimate before treatment, and bill most private plans directly.

You may qualify, with no co-payment

At this income, the plan pays its set fee for covered services in full. If our fee is higher than the plan's fee, you also pay the difference. We show it on your written estimate.

You may qualify, with a 40% co-payment

At this income, the plan pays 60% of its set fee for covered services and you pay the other 40%. If our fee is higher than the plan's fee, you also pay the difference. We show it on your written estimate.

Are you accepting new patients?
