The brief
The owners wanted a kitchen that felt as old as the house. The previous renovation had covered the pine floors and boxed in the tall window.
What we did
- We lifted two layers of flooring and restored the original pine boards underneath.
- The window trim was rebuilt to match the rest of the house. The sash was repaired and sealed for winter.
- Inset green cabinets, walnut shelves and a marble backsplash to the ceiling finish the room.
The result
The kitchen now looks like it belongs to the house. The afternoon light reaches the back wall again.
Scope of work
- Inset painted cabinets
- Marble backsplash and counters
- Restored pine floors
- Rebuilt window trim
- Aged brass lighting
